Liberty Blue Wins 18U Open Stars & Stripes

In their return to tournament competition, Liberty Blue dominated in the Star & Stripes tournament held in Chambersburg, PA. They played in the 18U Open division and rolled through the competition on Saturday, winning all three games by mercy rule. Sunday would be more of challenge as the team fought back from deficits in both the semi-final and championship games. The championship was decided after 8 innings, including two innings of ITB play.

It was a team effort, but special recognition goes to Abbey Lane who pitched a complete game in the semi-finals and came in as relief to pitch 7 1/3 innings in the championship game. Then, to cap it all off, with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 8th, she hit a walk-off triple for the win.  Congratulations to Abbey and the entire Liberty Blue team!

Blue Goes to the Beach Blast Showcase

Liberty Blue traveled south to Myrtle Beach, SC for the Beach Blast Showcase and their final event of the fall season. On Saturday the girls were lead by college coaches and played hard, going 2-1 in scrimmages against 14U & 16U teams. On Sunday, however, the team made sure they ended on a winning note, going 3-0 in single-elimination bracket play. The final was never in doubt as Liberty won 12-3.

This gives the team a 32-5-1 record for the fall season including two championships at the 16U Open level. They will take a break before starting up the summer season following the conclusion of high school play.

Liberty Blue Wins Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament

Every October in Loudoun County, Liberty Blue participates in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness tournament and this year was no different. Something else that was no different was the the result. For the third year in a row the team walked away with the championship trophy. What makes this achievement all the more impressive is that the three championships have come in three different age brackets: 12U Open in 2017, 14U Open in 2018 and 16U Open this year. Blue went a perfect 3-0 on Saturday to earn a first round bye on Sunday and left no doubt on their way to the championship with a decisive 12-4 victory in the semi-finals. In the finals, they jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back, eventually winning 10-3. Congratulations on another great win!
