10U Runners Up in NOVA NIT

Loudoun Liberty 10U overcame injuries, heat and key absences to be runners up in the USSSA Nova NIT tournament. It was the team’s first hardware since being promoted to the “B” classification in May.

Brynnly T and Gianna S. led the pitching attack with Maddie H. returning to the circle in the championship game for her first extensive pitching appearance since breaking a toe in the winter. Maddie, Nia M. and Mackenzie S. all had home runs during the weekend, with Mackenzie posting two in one game. Allie E. put in an Ironman effort, catching nearly every inning on the weekend and was 1/2 of a double play in the first inning that set the tone for Bracket Sunday, connecting with Peyton B. to catch a runner off first on a pop-up. Scarlet T. had a good weekend at the plate and threw out a runner at the plate from left field. Campbell R. had a timely sacrifice bunt and several good innings playing second base. Avery T., Rylee S. helped solidify an iron curtain on defense and Mia J., making her tournament debut, was a key utility player and even pitched to close out the championship game, which Liberty lost to a very talented Arlington Sage team. Liberty and Sage are now tied 2-2 in face-to-face meetings this Spring.

We are very proud of these girls and their progress this year. Up next: Loudoun Firecracker June 25-27 and then to Columbus for the All-Sanction World Series July 30-Aug.

Congratulations, team! You played HARD this weekend and you deserve it!
