The 10U Loudoun Liberty team competed in the 2019 Stingray Fall Classic in Loudoun County this past weekend. The team came fired up and ready to play as they swept the pool on Saturday to the top seed in bracket play. After fighting hard on Sunday, they came up short in the championship game, but still took home the runners-up trophy for their second top-two finish of the season.
Liberty Blue went a perfect 5-0 in their first tournament championship of the season. Competing in the 16U Open division, it was smooth sailing until the championship game, when the team found themselves down 6-5 and time expired. With bases loaded and two outs, a two RBI double resulted in a dramatic walk-off 7-6 victory. Leading up to the championship game, Blue had outscored opponents 37-6, including an 11-1 victory in the semi-finals. Congratulations ladies, great work!
12U Liberty played in the one day September Shootout down in Richmond on 21 September earning their first Open tournament game victory. While they didn’t bring home any hardware, the girls fought hard and played well in their first Open tournament including putting a scare to a couple of ‘06 teams playing 12U.
They followed up the tournament with some team bonding down at Kings Dominion on Sunday.
16U Liberty White traveled up to Glen Burnie over the 14th and 15th of September to claim their first tournament win, 3rd place overall after Sunday, and a great experience for our first outing together – way to go Liberty White! This was a combined 18C/16C tournament due to low turnout individually. Together there were 6 teams between the divisions.
